So, I did some more research online because that’s all I can do about my brother’s death since there’s an investigation going on. I haven’t even mentioned the name of the guy who ended his life until now. Somehow the fabricated story that contradicts the following has disappeared and we are left out of the loop of the entire situation.
“The victim came to the Smuggler’s Cove to retrieve his personal belongings. An argument ensued between the victim and the restaurant’s owner. During the argument, Assistant Attorney General Kip Robinson, who recently moved to St Croix and happened to be having dinner @ Smuggler’s Cove, approached the victim from behind. Robinson opened fire on the victim while he was arguing with his former boss, striking him twice in the back and once in the side. According to witnesses, the argument was totally verbal. The victim wasn’t making any threatening gestures at any time during the argument. As if that wasn’t bad enough, witnesses have been saying that Robinson used racially charged language as he returned to his seat and completed eating his meal. That’s right, Robinson went back to his seat and finished his meal, after having just snuffed out a young Virgin Islands life. Source.”
I tried to understand this entire situation. It just makes me even angrier that there were racially charged language because I can’t help but believe that Mr. Robinson had other factors in his life at the time that may have made him decide to take a life of someone that he has never met or known. Who knows, maybe he knew him? Could that be a factor in why he was shot?
Might I emphasize that my brother’s ride was just outside waiting for him. Barely 1/2 an hour before he received a phone call making him aware of it. He’s never been one to use violence for anything.
All I can say is: I don’t get how someone gets a justified homicide from this. I know I probably shouldn’t be reading on this because it does make me even sadder but my brother would have been 19 this coming Friday. I just don’t want anyone to forget about Gilbert until justice has been served. Thanks.
P. S. So weird that the papers have two names for him: Kip Roberson and Kip Robinson.
