So it’s fourth of July weekend. I guess it means more to me now that I am a U. S. Citizen than when I wasn’t. It used to be just another day where I could go to the beach when I lived in the U. S. Virgin Islands.
Isn’t it interesting how far history has brought us? The U. S. got it’s independence in 1776.
Now that I look at countries like Iran, I can’t help but wonder how the U. S. was during those centuries. I know that I probably wouldn’t have fit in, especially educated, black and female.
Anyway, I mostly had to learn that the US gained independence in the year 1776 after the revolution for my citizenship test.
