Black History: Venus Williams

Today I didn’t get to do a great drawing on my commute to my Bootcamp session on the bus but this is what it ended up looking like. I’ll have to draw #VenusWilliams again.

The American professional tennis player who is currently ranked world No. 8 in the Women’s Tennis Association singles rankings is none other than Venus Williams. Usually, people talk about her sister Serena, who is arguably the G. O. A. T. (Greatest of all time) but “Venus holds the record for the most Olympic medals won by a male or female tennis player (shared with Kathleen McKane Godfree). She is the only tennis player to have won a medal at four separate Olympic Games. At the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Williams became only the second player to win Olympic gold medals in both singles and doubles at the same Olympic Games, after Helen Wills Moody in 1924. She is also one of only three active WTA players to have made the finals of all four Grand Slams, along with Serena and Russian Maria Sharapova.”

Besides being a badass athlete, Venus holds an associate degree in fashion design from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Indiana University East and she wants to get an MBA in the future.
